Roy Lichtenstein, 1923-1997, was an American painter who was the defining figure in Pop Art. Lichtenstein incorporated recognizable imagery drawn from daily life, advertisements and mass media into work, blurring the distinction between fine art painting and popular culture. His use of contrasting primary colors and Ben Day dots were defining features of his work.
